Links to sites helping improve mental health of men
I offer these links as sources of advice and support. I do not work for these groups but I do appreciate the help that they provide.
Some are male orientated but other are general support sites.
CITIZENS ADVICE – I know you might not immediately think of Citizens Advice as a mental health support but when financial worries, or other legal and consumer issues have such an impact on our wellbeing (shameless plug for my wellness pages!) I think it is worthwhile including them on the list.
FOR MEN TO TALK simply offers a chance for men suffering with anxiety, depression and grief to talk with other fellow sufferers.
RESPECT is a charity that supports male victims of domestic violence; they will believe you and offer you non-judgmental emotional support, practical advice and information.
SAMARITANS – if you need immediate help or are feeling suicidal please contact the Samaritans, they really are a great source of emergency help.
FIND A COUNSELLOR – I accept I may not be the right counsellor for you, but as I said in my comments about choosing a counsellor, this should not stop you finding someone who you feel you can work with. Try:
NATIONAL COUNSELLING SOCIETY – for a list of counsellors in your area. This is my professional body.
Psychology Today has a list of verified counsellors including online only counsellors.
